My poet is Robert Frost. His first poem published was "My Butterfly. An Elegy". He was born on March 26, 1874 and he died on January 29, 1963 at the old age of 88. During his life he won four Pulitzer prizes. Frosts life was plagued with loss when he was eleven his dad died. And his younger sister was put into a mental hospital.
ReplyDeleteMy poet is Walt Whitman. He was the second child of nine. He worked as a printer, teacher, and as a newspaper publisher.His first volume was "Leaves of green". He was fired several times for offensive language. He died march 26 of 1892.

Seamus Heaney was born on April 13 1939. He is known and revered as a poet but also rights plays and translates books. He is a highly esteemed man due to him winning a Nobel Prize in literature.

My poet is Theodor Seuss Geisel He was born March 2, 1904. He died September 24, 1991. He was a great poet because I loved his books when I was little. He got his ideas from his mother's rhymes that she sang. Geisel died of throat cancer. My poet is Edgar Allen Poe. He was born in Boston in 1809. He wrote The Raven. He died in Baltimore,MD in 1849 of alcoholism. In 1996, the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore, they called themselves the Ravens, after Poe's poem

ReplyDeleteMy poet is emily dickinson. Born in 1838, she was a very educated women and attended Amherest Academy in her youth. She wrote great american poems and published a book of them called, The Poems of Emily Dickinson by scholar Thomas H. Johnson. Only a small select of her eighteen hundred poems were actually ever published. After a long and prosperous life of relaxing and writing poems, became sick and requested upon her sister to burn all of her papers upon death. She started to become sick and finally breathed her last breath on may 15, of 1886.

ReplyDeleteMy poet was Billy Collins.He was born on March 22 1941.The top of his head is bald but the sides are not.He went to the university of California and received his M.A and Ph.D in English.Collins was born in New York City.His parents were William and Katherine. his professor at Riverside included poet Robert Peters.
ReplyDeletemy poet is e.e. Cummings. He was born on October 14,1862, and he died on September 3, 1962. He graduated from Harvard in 1916 with a masters degree in art. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. a interesting fact about e.e. Cummings was that he was a ambulance driver in WW1.

My poet is Pablo Neruda. He was born in Chile on July 12, 1904 and died on September 23, 1973. His full name is: Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, he was a Chilean poet, diplomat and politician. He chose his pen name after Czech poet Jan Neruda. An iteresting fact about him is on his way back from Mexico to Chile in 1943 he stopped to see Machu Picchu, the beauty of the Inca capital inspired a book-length poem in twelve parts he completed in 1945 called Alturas de Macchu Picchu.

My poet is Raymond Carver. He was born on May 25th, 1938. He wrote many poems that include At Night the Salmon Move, Where Water Comes Together With Other Water, and Ultramarine. Carver's career was dedicated to short stories and poetry. He described himself as "inclined toward brevity and intensity." He died August 5th, 1988, at the age of fifty from lung cancer.
ReplyDeleteMy poet is Langston Hughes. Langston Hughes was born on February 1st, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. He wrote his first published poem, The weary blues, in 1926, at the age of 24. Another significant poem that he wrote is, When Harlem was in vogue. Langston Hughes died on May 22nd, 1967 at the age of 67.
ReplyDeleteMy poet is Gregory Orr he was born in 1947 in Albany,New York. One fact about Gregory Orr is that when he was 12 he accidentally shot and killed his brother. Some of his poems are related to his traumatic experiences in his life like when he killed his brother when his mother died and when his dad got addicted to amphetamines. Orr is an English professor at U.V.A. and he lives in Charlottesville Virginia with his wife and two daughters.
